Accessibility at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre
The Canada Games Aquatic Centre is committed to making our facility more accessible for our whole community. Here’s how we make accessibility a priority:
-
Wheelchair Parking & Accessible Entrance: The Aquatic Centre parking lot is owned and managed by the City of Saint John. Wheelchair parking spaces are available in the parking lot directly outside our facility. The entrance is fully wheelchair accessible.
-
Lobby Lift to the Pool Deck: A lift in the lobby provides easier access to the pool deck for those with mobility challenges. Please ask our Front Desk for access. When you exit the lift you will either need to walk through the male or female change room to access the pool deck. Please Note: The lobby lift is temporarily out of order as we await parts. We apologize for any inconvenience.
-
Gender Neutral Family Change Huts: Our deck-level change huts include a wheelchair-accessible option.
- Pool Deck Washrooms and Showers: In addition to the washrooms and showers in the changing rooms, there are showers and an accessible gender neutral washroom directly on pool deck.
- Ronald McDonald Change Room: There is an additional accessible changing room located behind the 'Adult' Hot Tub. Please ask a lifeguard for directions if needed.
-
Pool Chair Lift: We provide a chair lift for entry into both the competition pool and the leisure pools, making the pools accessible for everyone. Upon arrival please notify the Front Desk if a chair lift is required and they will inform the Aquatics team. (The chair lift has a weight capacity of 325 lbs.)
-
Pool Wheelchair and Walkers: For individuals with mobility challenges, we offer a pool wheelchair and walkers designed to be used on the pool deck and in the water. The walkers provide added stability and support for those who need it. Please ask a lifeguard if assistance is needed. (The wheelchair has a weight capacity of 300 lbs.)
We appreciate your understanding and patience as we continue to work towards the overall accessibility of the facility.
