Swim Instructors
(Available Tuesday and Thursdays 4-8pm starting July 5th)
Duties:
Instructors are responsible to teach participants to swim in a safe manner while using appropriate methods to ensure that participants progress as anticipated in their courses. They desire that students succeed and ensure the full course curriculum is completed within the time allocated. Instructors assist in the promotion of programs and activities at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre. Instructors are responsible for preparing and following lesson plans for their classes. They must attend and participate in all mandatory training and information sessions. They are required to maintain a professional image at all times and wear any required uniform. Instructors ensure that all necessary records are maintained accurately and submitted on a timely basis.
Required Education:
- Current Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification (for instructor positions)
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C/AED (both lifeguard & Instructor positions)

Preferred Qualifications:
- Preference may be given to candidates with both the National Lifeguard Pool certification and Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification
- Preference may be given to candidates with Lifesaving Instructor certification
- Preference may be given to candidates with relevant experience
- Preference may be given to candidates with experience working in a sports and/or recreation facility
- Preference may be given to Bilingual (English / French) candidates

Compensation:
- Starting wage of $14.51 ($15.02 after 12 months)
- A membership to the Canada Games Aquatic Centre
Conditions of Employment:
- Prior to hiring, you must provide the results of a current Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector check. You will also be required to provide these checks periodically while employed with us.
- Instructors need to commit to a full session of classes [eight (8) to ten (10) consecutive weeks]
- Must maintain required certifications
- Position will require evening and weekend work hours
- Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
